What kinds of things did we do this year in school? What was your favorite thing that we did? You’re least favorite?
Body of Lesson Plan:
Segment #1
During large group activity, get your students thinking by asking questions such as “what kind of movies do you like to watch?” “What is an actor/actress?” “Would you like to be an actor/actress someday?” Read the book Little Miss Star to the class
Segment #2
Home movies or in our case class movies are a wonderful way to save memories, in a portable format.
Memories~ in the primary sense of this word, is one of the activities of the human mind, much studied by cognitive psychology. It is the capacity to retain an impression of past experiences.
Feedback: Ask students to try and recall memories about the past year? Sample student responses “ we went on a field trip to see Ramona”
Segment #3
1.) During large group time discuss memories with the students.
2.) Students will be placed into small groups of 3 or 4 and decide who will be behind the camera, who will be asking the interview questions and who will be asked the questions first. ( make sure each student has a chance to be interviewed)
3.) Students will be given the interview questions before hand to decide for a few minutes what they are going to say. During this time they will be shown an iMovie sample
Segment #4
  • After discussing memories and I movie with the students, they will go into small groups of 3 or 4 students.
  • They will be required to interview each other using the questions, “What was your favorite thing about the 1st grade?” “What will you miss the most?” “Is there anyone special you want to thank or say goodbye to?”
  • Each student in the class will be taking turns interviewing and be the interviewed
  • Once everyone has gotten a turn to be on camera, the interviews will be downloaded onto iMovie and then YouTube for the classes enjoyment
  • This movie will be played at our end of the year celebration for the parents to see.
